Podiatric services at our Melbourne centre

We offer a full range of services at Camberwell Road Podiatry from general foot care to specialist foot care.

Services and treatments include:

General foot care

Our feet carry the weight of our body and can walk over 128,000 kms in a lifetime - that's more than 3 times around the earth! Painful feet are not a natural part of growing old or something to "put up with".

There are many skin and nail conditions that can affect your feet's appearance, function and mobility.

These include:

  • Nail Problems - ingrown toenails and fungal nail infections
  • Skin Problems - corns, calluses, warts, tinea, smelly feet, heel fissures

For more information on these problems please visit our pages on nail problems and skin problems.

Our Melbourne podiatrists are university trained to diagnose and treat skin and nail disorders of the foot. They can use specific sterile instruments for painless and effective treatment for many common podiatric problems including ingrown toenail treatment. Regular podiatry treatments and general foot care can help keep you on your feet for longer.

Children's feet

Children's foot problems can be of great parental concern and are often first noticed when the child walks. An unusual gait, uneven shoe wear or symptoms may be signs that your child has a foot related problem and needs to visit a podiatrist.

For more information on these problems please visit our children's feet page.

Sports injuries

In many sports, the foot absorbs tremendous shearing and loading forces, sometimes reaching over 20 times the person's body weight! This leads to lower leg injuries both acute and chronic.

Our podiatrists have a special interest in sports podiatry and are experienced in dealing with all foot related sporting injuries.

For more information on these problems please visit our sports injuries page.

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common conditions encountered at our podiatry centre. In this condition patients complain of pain under the arch or heel on weightbearing. This condition can often become quite debilitating if chronic so it is important that treatment for plantar fasciitis is commenced as early as possible. Our podiatrists are well trained in plantar fasciitis treatment both acute and chronic and patients are amazed at our success rate.

For more information on this condition please visit our page on plantar fasciitis treatment.

Other common foot problems

There are many other common foot related problems that our podiatrists can treat.

These include:

  • Heel pain - plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel, heel bumps, bruised heel
  • Bunions
  • Neuroma
  • Back pain

For more information on these conditions please visit our pages on heel pain and other common foot problems.

Services

Nail surgery

Ingrown toenail surgery can be performed by our podiatrists to help cure a chronic ingrown toenail or where previous ingrown toenail treatments have failed. Ingrown toenail surgery is a simple "walk in walk out" procedure, performed under local anaesthetic and sterile conditions in our podiatry centre. The benefit of nail surgery is that once the toe is fully healed the offending part of the nail will not regrow, effectively curing an ingrown toenail for life!

For more information on this procedure please visit our nail surgery page.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease which results in high blood sugar levels. This can cause a number of complications in the feet most notably:

  • Damage to the small nerve endings in the feet (neuropathy).
  • Damage to the blood supply to the feet.

Diabetics who have these complications are more likely to develop serious foot problems like ulcers, infections and risk amputation. Our podiatrists can help prevent foot complications associated with diabetes through regular foot assessments, maintenance and treatment.

For more information please visit our diabetes page.

Gait analysis

At Camberwell Road Podiatry we are committed to providing the best possible treatment to our patients. That is why our podiatrists use the latest technologies like computer gait analysis. Using a treadmill, digital video and computer we can perform a more accurate assessment of your gait. In our podiatry centre our computer gait analysis system assists our podiatrists to detect biomechanical faults, which are unseen with the naked eye, which help to diagnose the cause of your injury or problem.

For more information please visit our page on gait analysis.

Orthotics

Orthotics or orthotic devices are shoe inserts designed specifically to improve foot function or lower leg mechanics. They are prescribed by podiatrists to help treat and prevent a number of lower leg and foot problems such as flat feet. Our Melbourne podiatrists have many years of training and experience with custom-made orthotics. They follow strict guidelines to ensure your orthotics are prescribed accurately. They will take you through the whole process from the initial clinical assessment and casting to the orthotic prescription, fitting and review.

For more information please see our orthotics page.

Footwear advice

Poor footwear can have an adverse affect on your feet. Our podiatrists can assess your feet and advise you on appropriate footwear. Whether its shoes for children's feet, sporting feet, senior's feet or to fit an orthotic, our podiatrists will make sure that you are in the right type of shoe for your foot type.

For more information please visit our page on footwear.
