Therapies
At Camberwell Road Podiatry our Melbourne podiatrists have access to a wide range of therapies to help treat your foot problem and speed up your recovery.
Therapies offered onsite include:
Ultrasound therapy
Therapeutic ultrasound stimulates the tissue beneath the skin's surface using sound waves. The heating and massaging effects of ultrasound increases blood flow in the treated area and helps reduce swelling and oedema. This leads to reduced pain and quicker healing times for soft tissue injuries.
Our podiatrists use therapeutic ultrasound to help treat injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.
Laser therapy
Laser therapy is the application of light (red and infrared) over injuries to create therapeutic effects. Laser therapy works on the cells by converting light into biochemical energy, which the cells then use to commence their own tissue repair. This biostimulating effect of laser therapy helps reduce pain, decrease inflammation and increase tissue repair.
In our practice laser therapy is used to help treat:
- Soft tissue injuries
- Arthritic joint pain
- Nerve entrapment
- Ulcers
Laser therapy can also be used as an alternative to needles for acupuncture.
Paraffin wax foot bath
A paraffin wax foot bath is a therapeutic treatment whereby the foot is dipped into a pool of heated paraffin wax, creating a thermal effect. The penetrating heat can help relieve pain and stiffness, optimal for patients suffering from arthritis, bursitis and muscle spasms.
Paraffin wax foot baths can be used to help soften skin and scar tissue. It is also great for stimulating foot circulation, which helps treat chilblains. If you think your feet would benefit from a paraffin wax bath session call Camberwell Road Podiatry today!
